O yeah, my flicks are on fleek!
If you didn’t already know, I’m not big on makeup. My makeup routine is really simple (Unless I’m on stage for dance). I also have the lightest eyebrows ever and I’m way too lazy to colour them in every day. I heard about micro blading but never really found out more information because to be honest, I really thought it was going to be too expensive to get done and probably way too expensive to maintain. Note to self: Never make assumptions, Ignorance is not bliss. Read on to find out more.
Microblading is a manual process whereby pigment is inserted into the upper layers of skin. This darkens the eyebrows and gives them more fullness and shape. I had 3 colours to choose from and I chose the lightest shade of brown. The therapist did advise me that the colour would fade by 30%, however I wasn’t confident enough to go very dark.
A numbing cream is applied before the procedure starts, If I’m honest, it did hurt but it was bearable pain. With that being said, when I went for the follow up, shew, the tears were flowing…no jokes. The therapist said to me that every single client she has had has said that the follow up was much more painful than the initial appointment. So be prepared!
After the first appointment, the colour did fade, however, my eyebrows were still darker and fuller then prior to microblading.
Microblading is actually quite reasonably priced. Prices do vary, depending on where you get it done. I paid R1490 for my first session and R750 for my follow up session. Thereafter, you’re good for the next 1 – 2 years. Not a bad investment, if I do say so myself!
I cannot begin to even express the happiness I feel with my new brows. I would recommend it to anyone that wants thicker darker looking brows. Please, please, do your research when it comes to the therapist you choose for this procedure. You do not want anyone to mess up those beautiful brows, its not a mess up that you can hide or easily fix. I went to a lady that 2 of my own friends had gone to before. Not only did they have good things to say about her and the procedure, but their beautiful brows spoke volumes.
That’s it from me, until next week
