Snack Time

Wow, 2 posts in one week. Aren’t you lucky 😀

Well there’s 2 reasons for this. 1st I’ve injured my baby toe and I can’t exercise or gym at the moment. Withdrawal has started to set in. I do miss both terribly.

And the 2nd reason is that I’m actually quite organised these days…O yes I am. You’d be surprised how much I can get done in a day.

As you all know, I’m very conscious about my health. And this week, we started with keeping fit, which you can read about here. Today, we’re touching on the other side of staying healthy, which stems from what comes out of your kitchen. I love making healthy nutritious meals and giving my body all the love it needs to stay healthy and strong. With this being said, I also do occasionally enjoy the cholesterol laden, fat induced junk food too…Hey, I’m human!

I am constantly eating, and because of this, I try to keep it healthy 80-90% of the time. Today, I want to talk about a few healthy snacks that have, when I’m feeling nibbly.

  1. Date Balls: I played around with quite a few versions before I finally found one that suited my palate. Their yummy and filling and I can make a whole batch in 15 minutes on a Sunday and it lasts me the whole week (Yes, this is for all the lazy girls!) If you would like me to do a post on this, leave a comment below or drop me a mail and I will get right on it.
  2. Popcorn: This is quite a healthy snack, but we kill it with the amount of condiments we throw on it. I, myself prefer it doused with butter salt. But when it’s just a snack…and not movie night popcorn, then I just throw a little bit of Himalayan salt on it. Or sometimes I don’t put anything on it. Popcorn tastes quite good plain, seriously, try it, you’ll see.
  3. Fruit: I love fruit, I try not to have more than 3 servings a day though as it is too much sugar. One of my favourites, is bananas, topped with almond butter. Complete yumminess.
  4. Nuts and Raisins: I make my own mixture of this. Manolis is one of my favourite stores to get nuts from. I get the raw peanuts, pan fry them, remove the cover and then mix with raisins. Super healthy and not heavily mixed with the salt like the other store bought varieties.

That’s all that I have for today. What’s your favourite (healthy) snacks? Drop me a comment, I love trying new snacks

Stay healthy and happy

xoxo

  1. Awesome post. Living a healthy lifestyle with a balance make me happy. I usually have a grape fruit at 10:am and the some raw almonds at 4pm. Love having in my cheat meal once a week too. Ive been a bit off balance due to a hectic work load. I am back on track and now and it feels good to run along the beach again 🙂

    1. I love raw almonds…but grapefruit…hmmm…not a fan of the taste. I’ve also been sooo off balance since I hurt my toe. I wasn’t in gym for over a week and it was so hard getting back into the swing of things, but I’ve started gym again…I want to start running as well. it’s such a great workout and really destressing
