My Exercise Plan

March 2011Annual Sales ReportHello Everyone

As you all know, I’m on a journey to become a better me. My first post on my journey can be read here.

So I made the decision to get fit and as you all know, making a decision is easy, but staying committed to that decision is so much more harder.  I don’t want to live a life where I’m measuring my meals and feeling guilty for eating a piece of chocolate. I want to live a healthy fit lifestyle but yet eat some junk now and again and not have to feel bad about it, or skip gym and not feel as if I’m going to gain a kg. With that being said though, I did want to try and get rid of some bad eating habits, and that is where my 90 day challenge came in which went better the expected. You can read the full story here. Today I’m going to focus on what my exercise plan is all about and in future posts you will find many articles of the ways I have turned my lifestyle into a better one.

The aim is to go to the gym 5 to 6 times a week, for between 45-60 minutes. I prefer to do am workouts, for 2 reasons. Firstly I can get my workout for the day done and 2ndly, it keeps my afternoons free to work on my other goals as well as my dance. The problem that I initially had was waking up early. Durban may have the warmest winters but staying under my warm soft blanket is still by far more appealing.

It has been hard, but I have managed to get into a routine of being up by 5am every day. I’m working on waking up at 4, but currently I only get to bed around 11 or 12pm. This is something I need to work on.

My workout plan for the week consists of a variety of cardio, strength and stretching exercises. I aim to do strength training 3 times a week, cardio twice a week and a yoga/pilates class once a week.

I don’t have a personal trainer. I have mostly done my own research on what strength training exercises to do.

My cardio consists of 1x spinning class (these are amazing and if you haven’t tried, then I suggest you do) and 1x cardio machines at the gym.

I also work on my dance during the week. I have competitions and a show coming up so practice is imperative. My goal is 2 hours of dance 6 days a week.

I know all of the above sounds like an exorbitant amount of work and to be honest, it really is. I am also trying to shed a few fatty bits before my dance show so from the past week, I have been very good about getting my exercise in, even though it’s painful getting up in the freezing cold.

I know trying to lose weight is hard but the first step is for you to make a conscious decision to take back your power. It is possible!

I know it has been a long time since I have posted in the Sexy Me series. I’m considering making it weekly. I think it will not only help me stay motivated but you as well. What do you think? I would love to hear your thoughts:-)

Have an inspiring fit day
