Now that I am nearing the big three zero, I have decided to start taking better care of my skin. As much as I’m accepting that wrinkles do come with age, I do fancy slowing the process down a tad. And I’ve actually started looking at what goes into the products I buy. I happen to come across the Hey Gorgeous products on Facebook. It was the catchy name that got my attention. Honestly, who wouldn’t stop to take a second glance and I’m so glad I did.
Hey Gorgeous is a South African based company and where possible, they support local trade. This is their first brownie point. I love supporting local small businesses which helps to create more jobs in our country. Secondly, their products do no contain any harmful chemicals and where possible ingredients are organic and vegan friendly. Thirdly, their containers are made of recycled plastic, their packaging is recycled and their labels are printed on recycled paper. And drumroll please….they are Animal Cruelty Free!! Yippee.
Now, that I’ve established how awesome this company is. Let’s move on to the review of their products. I ordered a ton of products online but today I will discuss only three.
I have extremely oily skin and I generally go for a cleanser that has micro particles, however while on the hey gorgeous site, this lovely product captured my eye. This cleanser is very smooth and does not foam so I was quite hesitant as to how this would be keeping my skin fresh and smooth, however I was pleasantly surprised. Since I have been using it, I haven’t had any breakouts, bar the odd zit once a month and my skin always feels clean, smooth and soft after every use.

Just like the name suggests, the main ingredient in this product is apple cider vinegar. As well as green tea, witch hazel and essential oils. Now, if you are sensitive to smell and if you know how pungent the smell of Apple cider vinegar is, then I would strongly urge you to not buy this product. The hey gorgeous range of toners has many sweeter smelling variants that you may like. I knew what apple cider vinegar smelt like prior to purchasing the product but even I was quite surprised at how strong the smell was. However, that aside, this product is awesome. And gets a thumbs up from me. When I’ve previously used a toner, it’s always made my skin feel a tad tight, kind of like all the oils had been stripped of my skin and it was squeaky clean. This one doesn’t do that, my skin feels so clean and refreshed afterwards and its ready to absorb any moisturizer

I needed a facial scrub and since I bought the detoxifying cleanser, I opted for this scrub. I can’t even begin to describe how I love this scrub. I use it twice a week on my face and neck and afterwards, I just want to continue touching my skin (although I try hard to resist) because that’s how soft it feels. You don’t even need a lot so this tub will last for a quite a while. It does come with a wooden scoop.. Unfortunately I think this time mine got lost in the post.

Another thing I have to mention is that Hey Gorgeous can customize products for you. How special is that! So if you are allergic to a certain ingredient, they are willing to substitute it for something else or If you wanted a product with a certain scent or ingredient, they are happy to look into creating it for you. Happiness all around.
